Carpet cleaning – a tutorial

How to get toothpaste out of your carpet – step -by-step instructions.

Hint: When you send your 2 yr. old to put away her toothbrush, make a mental note to check on her within 30 seconds instead of five minutes.

Step 1: Google “Blue toothpaste on carpet”

Step 2: Gather cleaning supplies

Step 3: If site of damage is near bathroom, remove perpetrators to tub to eliminate spread of toothpaste.

Step 4: Scrape up as much toothpaste as possible with a knife

Step 5: Sprinkle baking soda on spots, then pour on vinegar. After bubbling subsides scrape with knife and soak up excess with towel. Repeat until all toothpaste is lifted (3-4 times for worst spots).

Step 6: Remove curious onlookers from project several times.

Step 7: Remove bored onlookers from tub

Step 8: Continue cleaning until you can traverse carpet without sticking to it

Step 9: Check out why children have allowed you to clean without further interruption

Step 10: Eat out for dinner.

Oh, this was fun! I love how the humor inserts itself among the “steps.” I think that last step was my favorite. 😉
