The last months worth of posts have been mainly on the little man so, not to leave anyone out, I thought I’d do one on my big man.
“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches…” Prov. 22:1
Brian has established a good name here in Dallas; about a week and a half ago, I grilled up some steaks to celebrate Brian’s promotion at work! He’s worked hard, proven himself knowledgeable, capably handled assignments and now holds a title to reflect all of that.
“See a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings..” Prov. 22:29
Here’s a picture of Brian’s workplace – his window looks out over this field of bluebonnets where we took the previously posted pictures.
Brian also works hard to keep himself in shape (because I like his big muscles). He took great care of me as my pregnancy progressed and adjusted himself to my limitations so we could still do things together. After I ran with Lance for nine months Brian is taking his turn – he’s starting Lance out right.
“Train up a child in the way he should go and in the end he will not depart from it” Prov. 22:6
Another project for Brian has been his Master’s degree. He’s over half way done and continues to crank out the work – early mornings, evenings, weekends. Of course, there’s always time to take a break and read with Lance.
“The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.” Pro 16:21
Brian also shares in the care of his son; changing diapers, bathing, helping when he’s fussy, carting his stuff around when we go places and watching him if I need to run a quick errand. He’s always ready to jump in if I need help with a meal or the housework too.
Of course, Brian does more than just the grunt work, he plays with his son and delights in him. He loves to scoop Lance up talk to him, “teach” him “life skills” (like burping) and tell him over and over how cute he is and that “Daddy loves you”.
“To turn the hearts of the fathers to the children….to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:17
I’m very proud of my hard working man and I know that when he gets bigger, Lance will be too.
I love you Brian!
