October 28

Today is our anniversary!

Two years ago, two became one. Both were desperately in love with each other and excited with the prospect of getting to be together every day!

One year ago one was becoming two and the new “Daddy” got to feel his son kick for the first time.

And today, if you do the math: 1×1=1+1= 3  …or something like that – I just count heads.

Anyhow, we’ve had two wonderful years – I don’t think we’re off our honeymoon yet – and the Lord has richly blessed our relationship, our life and our family.

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor of the Lord” Proverbs 18:22

“The Lord grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of your husband” Ruth 1:9

Eating

Lance has sure enjoyed eating “real food”

Here are some sample meals….ground up carrots and potatoes are ready for the freezer while tomorrow’s meals of potatoes with squash or green beans are packaged for the fridge.

Lance tries out “table food.”

Lance tries to tell us that he’s hungry!

This picture is for daddy – Lance tries an appetizer while mommy makes dinner.

Unfortunately, all that “home cooking” has seemed to make the jar stuff less than desireable. Here is his reaction to green beans – even though he eats fresh cooked green beans just fine.

Botanical gardens

Today Lance and I were able to celebrate some beautiful weater by going on an outing with our friends to the Dallas Botanical Gardens. Despite the fact that it is fall, the gardens were beautiful with seasonal flowers and pumpkins lined some of the paths.

On arrival we found a grassy spot and ate lunch – joined by a very friendly butterfly! Lance wanted to “hold” it.

Next we toured through some historical home replicas where Lance tried out backwoods living.

We tried posing by a lovely pool and waterfall…but Lance was too interested in the water to look at the camera. Some of the gardens reminded me of what we saw at the castles in England.

On our way out we stopped by the pumpkin house – landscaped with every kind of gourd imaginable! There was also a “Tom Thumb” hale bale maze but both boys were asleep by this time so we headed home – very much the better for a breath of beauty and fresh air!

My little Pumpkin

Lance got a taste of country life this week at our church’s annual hayride. I enjoyed being out of the city for a while, smelling campfires, seeing the stars and sitting in the hay with my very own kid.

Because it was dark, I don’t have very good pictures. So I thought it a good time to share some from a recent photo shoot done by my brother-in-law, Benjamin Cahill.

The start of the photo shoot was a little rough; Lance wasn’t real keen on the whole pumpkin thing…

But Daddy got him laughing as only Daddy can.

We got some great pictures of Lance – it was hard to decide which ones to post! We also posed a nice family shot too.

Lance found a girl his size – wanna hold hands?

Don’t I have the sweetest little boy!

Health

Sorry for the lack of update. After a busy weekend and guests on Sunday and Monday, I fell sick and spent all of Tuesday mostly in bed! My incredible husband came home from work early to take charge of Lance after his afternoon nap so I could continue to rest. By Wednesday I felt better and spent that whole day catching up everything I missed doing on Tuesday. So that brings me to today – a good time to post!

Since we’re on the subject of health, I thought I would post on Lance’s recent Dr. visit – documented with the help of Brian’s phone.

Even though we’re just “going to see Grandpa,” Lance seems to have forebodings about the visit.

On the growth chart Lance stretches to make 2 ft. – guess we don’t have any “weeds” in our garden patch!

Lance weighed in at 15 lbs. 1 oz! (minus 1 oz. for the pacifier)

Now for the official measuring….stop moving, I can’t get an accurate read….ah, 24 in. As Grandpa put it, Lance is getting shorter – he’s now off the charts! (or below the charts that is)

Grandpa and Lance have a bonding moment – all seems fine so far! Until Grandpa sneaks out of the room, that is….

To be replaced by the mean nurses! Way to take a guy by surprise – all smiles one minute and whamo! they get you the next.

Lance is a tough guy though and only cried a little bit. Dad tells him it’s okay while grandpa comes back, now that the worst is over – don’t want to risk future relationships over a few shots, do we? 🙂

So Lance is pronounced healthy and good to go until next time.  “It’s so nice to have family taking care of me.”
