Yesterday I had a midwife appointment and everyone was there to see little Lance. They said that he was special because he had the whole birth center praying for him and everyone was asking for updates on how things were going.
This is everyone that helped with the birth:
Heidi, Me (I guess I helped), Lance (he didn’t help much), Kelsey, Sorani and Lisa
Here’s Kelsey my main midwife and Sorani who was the “over seer.” These two were great fun and a big blessing. Lance and I owe a lot to their skill and ability to handle anything that comes up. Since Kelsey is in training, we had hoped to give her a good experience and boy did we ever! After a pregnancy that was almost textbook classic, we piled a lot of “experience” into a few short weeks giving not only her but everyone more than they ever wanted to see. We’re all glad that in the end, everyone was fine.
As for the rest of the check up – I’m doing well and have the go ahead to start toning up the abs. I also jumped on the scale and was happy to be back at my pre-pregnancy weight (I should start a business, lose 20 pounds in 20 days!) Lance was foot-printed, though he protested, and got a little heel prick for the PKU test which he protested even more! Over all though, he was properly admired and adored by everyone and behaved himself rather decently.

A little behind on my posting, but I wanted to share some precious pictures with everyone. My brother, Michael and his wife Lindsey came to visit us on Saturday so the cousins could officially meet for the first time.
While Connor made all the Jones kids aunts and uncles several years ago, Michael and Lindsey had to wait for that title until our little Tadpole came along.
We visited at the house for a while then Connor helped me make pizza for everyone (he had a great time putting spices on – all in one spot). Afterwards we all went to the park!
The dads walked to the park while the moms drove. Uncle Brian played hide and seek with Connor and got us the compliment that we have “a fun house!”
Lance and Abbie were less than interested in the playground – naptime seemed like a better idea.

Got Milk?
My mom sure does! Today she donated 3 gallons of her milk to a milk bank for babies that are less fortunate than me.
Where’s your mustache?

Today Lance is two weeks old – hard to believe he’s already been here that long! A lot has changed in that short time.
Here he is just hours after birth – intubated and monitored, having caused a big ruckus and many lost hours of sleep.
And this is today – breathing fine, eating well and sweetly giving his parents a decent nights sleep.
The last few weeks have seen some changes in me as well:
Here I am about a week before Lance came.
And here I am today – baby safely on the outside of me!
It’s kind of funny to be skinny again – sometimes I’ll feel my stomach rumble and my hand will go to my tummy to feel the baby kicking. I also feel just as hungry as I did before having him…and sometimes just as tired. Amazing that I could be walking several miles the two days before delivery but it takes more than two weeks to gain back that ability afterwards! I’m just grateful that the Lord gave strength all through the stay at the hospital and good health to all of us. Life is good.

Lance came home from the hospital yesterday! We are soooo glad to be home as a family for the first time since he was born.
To give a brief update of the last several days, Lance was doing well and supposed to go home on Thursday. Wed. night they moved him from NICU to a regular room and the new monitors caused his vital signs to be misread and made him appear to relapse. This little incident put another 3 days onto our stay, and many other tests – all of which came out positive and proved that Lance was indeed a normal, healthy little boy – praise God!
Almost time to go! Amy was supposed to be recovering and not walking everywhere so she was assigned a wheelchair which Brian enjoyed pushing….
The nurse is taking off his IV after his last antibiotic – the last “line” to come off, making him totally ours!
Daddy gets Lance loaded in his car seat – we had to put it on the smallest setting.
Mommy is given her supply of milk. Since Lance was not allowed to eat the first few days, Amy got a head start and makes way more than he can eat! Brian has started to “moo” during feeding times.
We made it home yesterday evening. Brian was really sweet and unloaded everything, put things away and generally ran around being busy. I bathed Lance – which wasn’t his favorite activity – then Brian dressed him and played with him while I got ready. He fussed for a while at bedtime and Brian played dad again by holding him and finding his pacifier multiple times and keeping him quiet while I rested. We finally all settled down for the night and managed to get some sleep. We had a little play time this morning with Lance – he would scoot around on Brian’s chest and raise up his head. We both think he’s the cutest little thing in the world! Praise God for bringing us through the unexpected and for giving us a beautiful, perfect baby boy.
Thanks so much for your prayers while we were in the hospital. We are grateful to God for His healing hand on Lance’s lungs!
